Concert 5 – April 29, 2027 – Romance & Passion

Nancy Zhou, violin

Our grand season finale provides the greatest of “Romantic” music to our audience. The program opens with the virtuosic talent of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel in her sole orchestral composition, the Overture in C, a stirring Romantic work. Howard Hanson, American composer and educator, wrote his Symphony #2, subtitled “Romantic” – it’s a thrilling work evoking passion and brilliance. The concert’s final work brings back international superstar violinist, Nancy Zhou performing the magnificent Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto in D Major, one of the most popular concertos in all of classical music. Nancy traces her musical roots to the Texas Hill Country where her father, Long Zhou, was concertmaster of this orchestra. We are so proud to have Nancy back on the Cailloux stage!
