Dr. Tim Summerlin
President
Dr. Tim Summerlin
Tim Summerlin is a native of Port Arthur, Texas, not China. He received degrees in English from Abilene Christian and Yale Universities and spent his professional life in higher education instruction and administration, concluding it as President of Schreiner University in 2017. The Summerlins have three adult children and five grandchildren. They have lived in Kerrville since 1999, and Tim has served on the SOHA board since 2001. They enjoy travel, food, wine and family and try to stay in some kind of shape through daily walking and gardening. Other commitments include First Presbyterian Church and volunteering at Schreiner.

Dr. Barbara von Brandt-Siemers

Dr. Barbara von Brandt-Siemers Bio
Born and reared in Bavaria, Barbara served in a variety of management roles before coming to Texas in 1997. A graduate of Schreiner University, she earned her CPA and served as Schreiner’s Controller until she chose to apply her skills directly to education. Completing her doctorate at Capella University, she is now Assistant Professor of Accounting at Schreiner. She has also served as treasurer of the Hill Country Arts Foundation.

Julie Sentell

Julie Sentell Bio
Julie moved to Kerrville at the end of August 2011 when she retired from Western Texas College in Snyder as director of international student services, one of several positions she held there. She was born and raised in Amarillo and lived in Austin and Snyder prior to her move to Kerrville. Later in life, she received a BS degree from Lubbock Christian University. Julie has participated in community activities wherever she lived, serving on non-profit boards and volunteering with community service organizations. Since moving to Kerrville, she has shared her time with several local non-profits, including the Hill Country Vocal Arts Society, Kerr Konnect, the League of Women Voters-Hill Country, Schreiner University and the Texas Heritage Music Foundation. When she is not traveling, she loves to play bridge, read, and enjoy the performances of singer-songwriters who bring their talents to local and area stages.

Dr. Eugene Dowdy
Conductor and Artistic Director
Dr. Eugene (Gene) Dowdy Bio
Served as conductor and artistic director of the Symphony of the Hills since 2014. Past president of the Texas Orchestra Directors Association and professor emeritus at UT San Antonio where he was professor of orchestral studies and conducting, and a former chair of the music department.
Gene holds a long relationship with the symphony having played in the orchestra in their first season alongside both his late father, a horn player, and sister, a nurse and violinist.
He enjoys working with this board, music committee, and orchestra staff to plan and present the best symphonic music of all genres to the community, and particularly to the youth of the hill country.
Also serves on the Advisory Committee of the Hill Country Youth Orchestras.
Barbara Cox Bio
A native Houstonian, Barbara played clarinet at South Houston High School and became the first band member at the school to make it to All-State Band in 1969. Although she probably should have stuck with music, she instead decided to focus on business and spent almost 20 years in public relations. She and her husband, Jim, started their own PR firm which was acquired by a national/international agency. In 1993, the agency transferred Jim to their New York office and they and their two sons lived in Green Village, New Jersey. Barbara then made a career move to the legal field. She had earned an MBA from the University of Houston, but also decided to study at Fairleigh-Dickinson University in Madison, NJ for an ABA-approved paralegal certificate. She has spent almost 25 years working for law firms in New York, New Jersey, and Texas. She currently works for Wayne-Sanderson Farms, headquartered in Oakwood, Georgia, as a senior paralegal. Barbara and Jim moved to Kerrville in 2014 and she has been active singing in church choirs as well as the Hill Country Chorale. They both love the Symphony and attend regularly. Barbara and Jim have two grown sons—one who lives in Sweden and the other in Kansas—and they have three beautiful granddaughters.

Roy Bartels Bio
After earning a Bachelor of Music in Education degree from Southwestern University, Roy worked in the retail music business selling pianos and organs. He pursued a master’s degree program in organ performance at Hardin- Simmons University and TCU. While in Fort Worth, he started what would become years as a church organist in various locations, including Abilene and Oklahoma City. He then spent 20 years in corporate America in various management positions, ending up in corporate training in Dallas.
Roy completed a Master of Education in Educational Technology degree in 2003, landing at Western Texas College, where he spent 14 years, much of that time as an administrator in charge of distance education, grants, marketing and the library. He moved to Kerrville in 2018 after retiring from WTC and went to work for Schreiner University. He is now retired and a season ticket holder.
Frank Dunlap Bio
A native of Dallas and fourth generation Texan, Frank earned his BBA from East Texas State (A&M – Commerce). A Certified Professional Planner, he was active in professional financial services for nearly 40 years, largely with JP Morgan Chase and Wells Fargo. After a career in banking, Frank was selected to lead the Salvation Army in January 2010 to serve as the Executive Director of the Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center. He and his wife Julie have one daughter. He is deeply engaged in the community, with First Presbyterian Church, the Kroc Center, Rotary, the Grand Symphony Chorus and Schreiner University. Frank enjoys gardening, road cycling, golf, classical music, and fly fishing.

Robert Kluting
Robert Kluting Bio
Received Bachelor of Business Administration in Management at Texas Tech University graduating as a Distinguished Military Graduate of Air Force ROTC. Spent eight years in the United States Air Force working in the Minuteman Missile System as a maintenance crew chief, field superintendent for maintenance and combat crew commander. Received an MBA with international honors from Beta Gama Sigma from the University of South Dakota while an Air Force officer. Built a multi service oilfield company over the following decade following a strategic plan devised while in graduate school. Sold most of the assets of that business to Weatherford International, then focused on developing a small oil and gas operating company. Worked as a financial advisor for Equitable/Axa for several years working with clients with the upper level of wealth. Moved to the Hill Country and built custom homes, lodges and some commercial projects for about a decade. Spent the following several years helping develop oil and gas properties while raising funds to do so as well as buying and selling commercial properties. Began to teach at Schreiner University as an adjunct in the business department in January of 2013 teaching the maximum of 15 semester hours per year until January of 2017. During that time taught courses from the freshman Introduction to Business to senior Human Resource Management. Was given a full-time position as Chair-Department of Management at Schreiner University in January of 2017, teaching courses ranging from Introduction to Business (also online for the First Year Students), Principles of Management and the Capstone business course for all business students, Entrepreneurship. While living in Kerrville was founder and served as president of the Hill Country Texas Tech Alumni, served on the Hill Country University Center board for seven years raising $5MM to build a campus in Fredericksburg, served as president of the Home Builder’s Association and served two terms on the Hill Country Arts Foundation board.

Dr. Jeffrey Sirianni
Dr. Jeffrey G. Sirianni Bio
Dr. Jeffrey G. Sirianni is a board-certified audiologist with more than 30 years of clinical experience in the field of hearing and balance healthcare. He earned his Doctor of Audiology degree from Salus University and completed additional training at The University of Texas at Austin. He also holds a bachelor’s degree in laboratory science from Springfield College and a master’s degree in neuroscience from University of Hartford.
Before entering clinical audiology, Dr. Sirianni spent several years conducting research in auditory neurophysiology and psychoacoustics. Throughout his career, he has remained actively involved in professional leadership and advocacy, serving in various roles within organizations including the American Academy of Audiology, Texas Academy of Audiology, and the Scott Haug Audiology Foundation.
In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Sirianni served as an adjunct instructor at Schreiner University, where he taught audiology courses in the Communication Disorders program.

Betty Clyburn
Betty Clyburn Bio
Betty and her husband Steve moved to Kerrville in November 2009 from Houston. They reinvented themselves when they moved to some acreage in Gillespie County where Steve built their home. They are actively rejuvenating their land after both taking the Master Naturalist classes and volunteering at Riverside Nature Center. Betty is a native Houstonian who graduated from Duke University as a history major. She returned to Houston to marry Steve, who she had met in Garmisch, Germany, where she worked immediately after graduation. Betty was a realtor for 30 years and did volunteer work with her children’s schools and activities. Her favorite volunteer venue was being a docent at Bayou Bend Collection and Garden, the American decorative arts branch of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and the former home of Miss Ima Hogg. Here in Kerrville, Betty is involved with First Presbyterian Church and organizer of the Friends of the Night Sky of West Gillespie County. They have two daughters and four grandchildren.
Kristin Ruth Hedger Bio
Kristin Ruth Hedger is senior vice president for business development for Killdeer Mountain Manufacturing, which recently expanded its operations into Kerrville and the Texas Hill Country. Born in Bismarck, North Dakota, she grew up in North Dakota and Texas and graduated from Tivy High School in 1998. Kristin played O1 tennis at Corpus Christi A&M and American University, where she completed a BA in political science. Later she earned a master’s degree from Yale University in theological ethics. She worked on the staff of former North Dakota U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan before she ran for North Dakota secretary of state in 2006. Kristin’s leadership has helped KMM be a top aerospace parts supplier for The Boeing Co. and the Lockheed Martin Corp. A recipient of the Marshall Memorial Fellowship from the German Marshall Fund of the United States and former member of the North Dakota Humanities Council, she is a current member of the U.S. Department of Commerce North Dakota District Export Council and the North Dakota Economic Development Foundation. During her business career, she also serves on the Advisory Board to U.S. EXIM Bank. Kristin has worked, as a member of the Schreiner Board of Trustees, to establish and maintain business and academic ties between Texas and North Dakota. She is profoundly grateful for the support of the Kerrville community as KMM ramps up its expansion here.

Rev. Dr. Gini Norris-Lane
Rev. Dr. Gini Norris-Lane Bio
Gini Norris-Lane is a graduate of Baylor University (BS), Austin Presbyterian Seminary (MDiv) and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry). She has served in a variety of clerical roles, perhaps most notably for 14 years as campus minister at Schreiner University from 2005-2019. In addition, she has served as a pastor in Atlanta, GA, San Antonio, TX and Uvalde, TX. Currently, she is the executive director of UKirk, the network of over 200 PCUSA campus ministry programs across the nation. She and her husband Wes, a past member of the SOHA board, have two sons, Austin and Max and a bonus daughter, Chrissy Stevens.

Ronald Deutch
Ronald Deutch Bio
With a father who was career Air Force, Ron grew up in California, Japan, Texas, France and Kansas, but always called Mexia, Texas, home. July 1967 – June 1976: Active duty with U.S. Air Force. Asia area political-military officer. Served in Japan and Vietnam. June 1976 – December 1982: Political-Military Officer, Defense Intelligence Agency responsible for China, Southeast Asia and Japan. January 1983 – September 2002: U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Officer – Assigned to Congo, Philippines, Indonesia, China, Mongolia and Washington DC. Final foreign assignment Consul General, Medan Indonesia. Served as Inspector for Department of State Office of the Inspector General 2014 to 2023.
He enjoys flying small airplanes, skiing, scuba diving and foreign travel. Married with two sons and six grandchildren. Member of Experimental Aircraft Association chapter providing aviation education and flying for children. Member of Kerr County Community Emergency Response Team. Served on board of SOHA previously.
Kierin Johnson Bio
Kierin fell in love with the Texas Hill Country during her first visit to Kerrville in 2010, and in 2016, she and her husband made that dream permanent when they relocated to Kerrville to begin their retirement years together. Throughout her career, Kierin worked in the legal field as a paralegal, deputy clerk, and ultimately as Court Coordinator for County Court at Law No. 2 in Parker County before moving to the Hill Country. Never one to remain idle, she continued serving her community in Kerr County as a part-time floater, working with the Kerr County Treasurer, three Justices of the Peace, and the District Clerk’s office. She later joined Emerald Cottages of Kerrville, a 55+ retirement community, where she is the Community Director. Music and community service have remained central to Kierin’s life. A lifelong choral singer, she has performed with community choruses in Waco and Fort Worth and has been a member of the Hill Country Chorale since 2017. In 2018, she joined the board of the Hill Country Vocal Arts Society, serving as Vice President from 2020–2022, President from 2022–2024, and currently in her second term as Treasurer.

LouAnne Smith
LouAnne Smith Bio
LouAnne Smith holds a B.A. in Music Education and an M.A. in Vocal Performance. She has maintained a dual career in music and nonprofit management most of her working life – initially, as a public-school and college music professor, later splitting her time while working with volunteer- driven programs in various Dallas-Ft. Worth nonprofit organizations. In 1998, she launched Volunteer Solutions, a consulting firm that provides organizational assessment, board governance training, strategic planning and volunteer program development for nonprofit organizations across the country. Her music career continued concurrently as a voice instructor, church music director, and performer with several prominent vocal ensembles in Dallas. After moving to Hunt with her husband in 2014, LouAnne joined the music faculty at Schreiner University where she taught for eight years, until retiring in May 2025. She currently maintains a private voice studio in the Kerrville area. LouAnne has served numerous local and national nonprofit boards, primarily focusing on the creative arts, education, or volunteer management.
Rebecca Williamson Bio
Rebecca graduated from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Music degree, vocal major. She taught general and choral music from 1976 to 1999 in Minnesota, where she was president of Playhouse 412 as well as a performer. She also taught at various schools in Midland. There she served on the boards of Midland Opera Theater, Midland Odessa Symphony and Chorale and Midland Community Theater. Her work also included serving as musical director of the youth drama program. In Houston, she was chair of the Awty International School music department, working primarily with upper-level staff and raising the profile of the program as teacher and director of diverse musical programs. Moving to Kerrville in 1999, she has been an active member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, singing in the choir, serving two terms as Senior Warden as well as on the Board of Episcopal Church Women. Rebecca was secretary for the Hill Country Gala fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project.
