In keeping with the second part of our Mission, each year the Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Jay Dunnahoo, presents two concerts for all 3rd and 4th graders attending school within a twenty mile radius of Kerrville. These concerts are enjoyed by students and teachers alike.

The last two Children's Concerts were held on March 4 and were attended by about 1600 students and teachers. The kids were well behaved, attentive and obviously appreciative of a program especially tailored to “the young and young at heart.“ The first piece, with narration by Jodie Dunnahoo and piping by the flute virtuoso Michelle Adam, was a delightful rendition of the story of the Pied Piper of Hamelin. About 40 flautists and another 40 young students paraded around the theater during the piece and the audience clearly enjoyed it. This was followed by the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, with narration by Liz Groat and overacting on the part of Red and the Wolf.

Besides the Kerrville Independent School System, students from Ambleside (Fredericksburg,) Comfort, Center Point, Harper, Ingram, and Notre Dame Academy were invited together with home-schooled students throughout the area.
