Concert I      October 6, 2011 Tunes from Transylvania and Beyond

 

Performing Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain, Romanian Rhapsody No. 1 by Enescu, Bach's Toccata and Fugue in D Minor and Kodaly's Hary Janos Suite

 

Concert II     December 1, 2011 Rising Stars & Many Moods of Christmas

 

Soloists: Jonathan Whitney, flute, Tivy High School

Performing Devienne's Concerto No. 7 for Flute and Orchestra, 1st Movement

Angela Johnson, violin, Baylor University

Performing Saint-Saens Concerto No. 3 in B Minor

Gavin Thompson, Guitarist from Fredericksburg

Performing Vivaldi's Concerto in D Major for Guitar & String Orchestra

 

Following this will be the Grand Symphony Chorus, led by Don McAvoy Chorus Master. The Chorus will perform God Bless America, followed by music to put you in the Holiday Spirit, including A Song of Peace (Finlandia) by Sibelius and The Many Moods of Christmas arranged by Robert Shaw and Robert Russell Bennett!

 

Concert III      March 8, 2012 For the Young and Young at Heart

 

Mozart's Clarinet Concerto performed by Dr. Tamara Raatz, solo clarinet, Dvorak's Symphony No. 9, Emperor Waltzes by Strauss and Debussy's Children's Corner. Earlier on March 8 will be two Children's Concerts -- With all kinds of stirring, appealingly youthful melodies


Concert IV     May 3, 2012 Out of this World 

Featuring extraterrestrial music such as The Planets by Holst, Star Wars Suite by Williams and Also Sprach Zarathustra, by Strauss (theme from 2001, A Space Odyssey.)
