Michelle Adam, solo flautist

Our featured soloist in this concert is a native of Kerrville and a Tivy High School graduate. Michelle Adam became interested in music through her grandmother’s influence playing piano from age five.

Michelle began flute study in the sixth grade and decided during her middle school years that she wanted to have a career in music. She continued her studies after high school and graduated with confidence in her playing ability and a music degree from the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Following her university study, Michelle taught at a middle school in San Antonio and later became the band director at Comfort Middle School. During her career in Comfort her middle school band was named a finalist in the state-wide Honor Band competition sponsored by the Texas Music Educators Association.

During and since her college years, Michelle has soloed with several symphony orchestras. She has been the principal flautist with the Symphony of the Hills since 2003 and first soloed with the orchestra several years ago.

Michelle is married to Jason Adam, former band director at Tivy High School. This past summer they moved to New Braunfels where Jason is band director at Canyon High School. Michelle now has a flourishing studio of flute students, both in Kerrville and New Braunfels.
