Children's Concerts In keeping with the second part of our Mission, each year the Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Jay Dunnahoo, presents one or two concerts for all 3rd and 4th graders attending school in the area of Kerrville. The children come from as far as 20 miles away to attend these; they are enjoyed by students and teachers alike. The next Children's Concerts will be held on March 5, 2009, following an abridged program as outlined for that date, and with special explanations for the children. The concerts this past Season, at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM on February 28th, were arranged and managed by Wes Lane, an SOH Board member. The two concerts were attended by 1261 3rd and 4th Graders, including home-schooled. The afternoon performance was a sell-out; based on correspondence and comments received, the favorite piece in the program was Tchaikowski's 1812 Overture. Besides the Kerrville Independent School System, students from Ambleside, Comfort, Center Point, Fredericksburg, Harper, Heritage, Hunt, Ingram, Medina, Notre Dame, St. Mary's Elementary and Stonewall were invited together with home-schooled students throughout the area. All attended except those from Harper, Center Point and Hunt. 42 home-schooled students attended. Three of the several thank you notes that Wes received:
